Granza Bio is developing a new category of programmable immune medicines to overcome the major limitations of current cell therapies in solid tumours. Its proprietary SMAP-T platform is built on the discovery of immune “superkiller” attack particles (Science, 2020) — potent cytotoxic structures produced by CD8 T cells that act as the immune system’s natural ammunition for persistent tumour-cell killing. By reverse-engineering this biology, Granza is developing therapies that reprogramme T cells in vivo to generate enhanced cytotoxic function against difficult-to-treat solid tumours. This approach enables a new class of immune medicines with the potential to overcome key limitations of current cell therapies and transform the treatment of solid tumours.
